The project's goal is to promote young academics within the Collaborative Research Centre (SFB). It aims to impart professional qualifications, work techniques, and key qualifications in a structured way and support the active networking of doctoral students in the university, national, and international research landscapes. The Integrated Research Training Group (Integriertes Graduiertenkolleg (SFB-GK)) should guarantee an adequate training in line with those demands of the SFB projects that are not covered by existing provisions. This includes the decisively international orientation of the Research Training Group, theoretical seminars on heterogeneities and social inequalities, colloquia with SFB-specific topics, and workshops on advanced methods. The selection procedure is designed to recruit the most suitable applicants worldwide on the basis of concrete achievement criteria. In general, postgraduates are being supervised by a committee. The doctoral phase is regulated by clear and fixed rights and duties for both the supervisor and the postgraduate. In addition, particularly suitable students attending BA and MA degree courses, including those outside Bielefeld University and, above all, international students will be introduced to working in the SFB. With its focus on social inequalities, the SFB-GK module is pursuing one of the research interests of the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS), and it can be integrated into it as a further Research Training Group. For the second SFB funding period, the plan is to expand the SFB-GK module into an International Research Training Group.
