Project description:
This project takes on key service functions in the domain of data and information infrastructure by setting up and administering a virtual research environment. It devises and implements standards of documentation for the data generated, applies anonymisation concepts for data archiving and provides advice on methodology. By expanding classic functions of compiling and servicing the information and data infrastructure, this project assumes developmental and advisory functions in the domain of IT infrastructure and empirical research methods. All in all, this project contributes to the further development of research methods in the social sciences and to the extension of the data infrastructure for data gathered by different methods (qualitative and quantitative) and from different units (situations, persons and companies).
Altogether project INF works mainly in four different SFB areas:
Advisory services
- Advice on research data management, data documentation and publications of metadata
- Advice about research data publications, working paper publications and conference publications et cetera in general (in cooperation with Bielefeld University Library)
- Advice on data protection and data security (in cooperation with the IT-support of the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University)
- Advice concerning anonymisation of qualitative and quantitative data
- Advice regarding individual technical solutions for project-related problems
- Advice on qualitative and quantitative survey- and evaluation methods
